戯れる猫たち

まだ夜も明ける前から微かな物音がする
机の上で何やら動き回っている

－ 猫だ。


4:00 AM　
It's not even dawn yet, and I hear faint noises.

Something is moving around on my desk.

It's a cat.


指でつまめるくらいの小さな猫たち
いつもここにいたんだろうか
今まで気づかなかった


Cats so small you could pick them up with your fingers.

I wonder if they were always here.

I never noticed them before.

ようやく起きる時間になって支度もえて机に戻ると

猫たちはいなくなってしまっていた


When it was finally time to get up, I got ready and went back to my desk.

The cats were gone.
